Creative Flagstaff is seeking an intern to assist with exhibitions and programs at Coconino Center for the Arts. his will include gaining experience with exhibition installation, in addition to assisting with exhibition related programing including workshops, presentations, and performances. Exhibitions & Programs interns should be interested in exhibition curation & management, arts administration, and/or non-profit experience.
Duties:

  • Assisting in the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions
  • Assisting with any exhibition related programing

Fall or Spring Semester, 10 hours/week

Creative Flagstaff is seeking an intern to assist in the creation of a historical record for Coconino Center for the Arts (CCA). CCA is located at 2300 N. Fort Valley Road and contains a 4,000 sq-ft gallery and 200-seat theater. In 2024, CCA celebrates 40 years serving the community. We are seeking an intern to comb through and organize historical records, photographs, and video to help tell the story of the 40 years of CCA to celebrate this milestone anniversary.

Duties:

  • Organize and catalogue historical documents, photographs and video
  • Produce time-line of activity at CCA over 40 years
  • Produce document which tells the story of Coconino Center for the Arts over 40 years

Fall or Spring Semester, 10 hours/week

Creative Flagstaff is seeking an intern to assist with marketing and event management for concerts at Coconino Center for the Arts. Coconino Center for the Arts located on North Fort Valley Road contains a 200-seat theater regularly programmed with various performing arts including concerts and plays. Primary focus of this internship will be concert and event marketing to increase ticket sales, revenue, and event attendance. Internship will also provide opportunities to gain insight into booking and artist management.

Duties:

  • Assisting in the creation and execution of marketing plans and assets for events
  • Implementation of marketing tactics including direct community engagement
  • Data analysis as related to marketing plan

This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain experience in video production, digital storytelling, and media management while supporting Flagstaff’s thriving arts and culture scene.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation and editing of videos to highlight CCA’s exhibitions, events, artist interviews, and community programs.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop engaging digital content for use across social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
  • Capture high-quality video footage at events and programs, as well as behind-the-scenes content to showcase the work of local artists and Creative Flagstaff initiatives.
  • Edit and produce short-form videos, reels, and promotional clips tailored for social media, website content, and outreach campaigns.
  • Manage and organize digital media assets, ensuring photo, video and audio content is stored and archived properly.

Creative Flagstaff and the Coconino Center for the Arts (CCA) are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Grant Making and Grant Writing Support Intern to assist in the development, organization, and management of grant applications and funding opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining experience and a “Hard Skill” in the nonprofit arts sector, grant writing, and arts administration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grant Writing:
    • Assist in researching potential grant opportunities and funding sources to support arts and culture programs at CCA.
    • Support the preparation and submission of grant applications, including gathering documentation, drafting sections of proposals, and ensuring compliance with guidelines.
    • Help track grant deadlines, application statuses, and reporting requirements using organizational tools.
    • Collaborate with the development team to write compelling narratives that communicate the impact of Creative Flagstaff’s programs.
    • Assist in the coordination of grant reporting, ensuring all necessary documents and data are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Grant Making:
    • Assist in administration of the Grant online platform
    • Support scheduling with the reviewers, and grant applicants based on the grant guidelines schedule
    • Review applications for completeness and eligibility
    • Participate in all evening meetings (mostly over Zoom) with applicants, and reviewers
    • Assist with the award allocation process based on scores and available funds
    • Assist with award announcements and review Final Reportings

Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 Semester, 10 hours/week

Creative Flagstaff is seeking an intern to assist with the 18th Annual Viola Awards, supporting the event from start to finish. The Viola Awards internship spans the Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 semester, culminating with the event in Spring 2026. The Viola Awards are an annual celebration of excellence in art, science, and culture in the greater Flagstaff area. The main ceremony is attended by more than 500 guests each year.

Viola Awards interns will be engaged throughout the entire process—from soliciting nominations, assembling panels, and facilitating finalist and winner selection, to planning and executing the event itself.

Past Viola Awards interns have taken ownership of different aspects of the event, including volunteer coordination and outreach. Responsibilities can be tailored based on the intern’s interests and goals. This internship is ideal for students or emerging professionals interested in event management, arts administration, or non-profit development.
