Become a Board Member & contribute to a vibrant creative community

Creative Flagstaff, formerly Flagstaff Arts Council, the City’s nonprofit art, science, and culture agency seeks applicants to serve as board members. Applicants will fill seats previously filled by long-time board members that have terms ending June 30, 2022.

Diversifying stakeholders, community groups, experience, and expertise represented by the Board of Directors is an important part of Creative Flagstaff’s strategic plan adopted in June 2021.

“Traditionally, Creative Flagstaff’s board leans on the networks of its own members and volunteers to recruit new leaders,” says President Ron Borkan. “Through our new strategic plan, we are committing to serve cultural sector businesses, nonprofits, artists, and other creative professionals more broadly. We are also committed to developing our leadership in ways that deepen our perspective about creative economies and cultural equity. We hope this call will inspire community members to apply that previously have not considered or did not feel connected to leadership opportunities with Creative Flagstaff.”

The Board hopes to recruit 2-4 new members through the application process. While it anticipates keeping a leadership application up on the Creative Flagstaff website year-round, it will prioritize applications received prior to June 1, 2022 for consideration for 3-year terms beginning July 1, 2022.

The Board seeks to recruit new members that provide leadership experience in any or all of the following: nonprofit governance, philanthropy, arts, education, sciences, public policy, and programming. We particularly seek individuals from diverse lived experiences including BIPOC and creative professionals.
