$141,900 awarded to 13 Flagstaff organizations through the Innovation & Capacity Grant program

Creative Flagstaff is thrilled to announce that 13 Flagstaff organizations were awarded $141,900 in grant funds through the Innovation & Capacity (Project) Grant program for 2023 as part of its Fall 2022 application cycle. $42,150 allocated from BBB Tax Revenues. It is Creative Flagstaff’s largest Project grant cycle in its history, due to the City of Flagstaff City Council allocating $150,000 in ARPA Revenue Replacement Funds in Spring 2022 to support COVID-19 response, mitigation, and prevention and to respond to negative impacts. Innovation & Capacity Grants provide flexible funds to support a specific project designed to introduce a new program or experience, prove a concept, or build operational capacity in the art, science, and cultural sectors in greater Flagstaff. Approximately $50,000 of ARPA Revenue Replacement Funds will be awarded in a Spring 2023 application cycle.

Creative Flagstaff is contracted by the City of Flagstaff to be the art, culture, and science agency. Each year, through the City budgeting process, a portion of the voter-dedicated Art & Science BBB funds are allocated to grant programs. This year, Innovation & Project Grants were also award funds through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Revenue Replacement Funds in conjunction with the BBB funds from the City of Flagstaff.

“Creative Flagstaff’s Grantmaking Committee was thrilled to receive so many qualified applications, and that so many focused-on building or restoring capacity within Flagstaff’s cultural sector. These are high impact transformational projects,” states Executive Director Jonathan Stone. “Building capacity is incredibly important as we continue to look beyond the depths of the pandemic and towards a bright future for our creative and resilient community. We are so thankful for Flagstaff City Council’s prioritization of investment in our cultural nonprofits at this important juncture.”
