Creative Flagstaff Celebrates the 17th Annual Viola Award Winners

Creative Flagstaff is proud to announce the winners of the 17th Annual Viola Awards, a night that brought together community, creativity, and celebration. The event, held on April 26th, was a joyful tribute to the people and organizations who continue to shape and inspire Flagstaff’s vibrant cultural scene.

The evening featured a high-energy performance by local band August Remedy, and a moving rendition of Seasons of Love from RENT, performed by the finalists in the Excellence in Performing Arts category—adding extra heart to an already unforgettable celebration.

  • Excellence in Visual Arts – Jacques Cazo Seronde
  • Excellence in Education (Organization) – Momentum Aerial
  • Excellence in Education (Individual) – Heather Cureton
  • Excellence in Performing Arts – Cabaret – Stargazer Collaborative Theatre
  • Excellence in Collaboration – The Flagstaff Foundry – Art in the Open
  • Community Impact (Individual) – Candace Ryan-Schmid
  • Community Impact (Organization) – Open Doors: Art in Action

 

“We are so honored to recognize these incredible individuals and organizations,” said Julie Comnick, Executive Director of Creative Flagstaff. “This year’s event was not only a celebration of artistic excellence, but a joyful reminder of the strength and creativity that define our community.”

The Viola Awards are named after Viola Babbitt, a founding member of the Flagstaff arts community, and are presented annually to recognize excellence in the arts, sciences, and community leadership.
