Announcing the Mask Responsibly Art Contest

The Flagstaff Arts Council is excited to announce the Please Stay, Play Distance & Mask Responsibly Art Contest in collaboration with the City of Flagstaff and Coconino County.

This contest promotes creativity while social distancing, reflection on the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and drives awareness of important public health guidelines.

Entries will be juried by City of Flagstaff and Coconino County staff and officials and prizes will be awarded to the top contenders! All forms of art and expression are welcomed to enter. Entries can either promote safe pandemic practices such as mask-wearing, physical distancing, hand washing, sheltering in place, etc. or explore a theme of the entrants choosing as long as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic. Entries can include visual, performance, written, or any other form of creative expression. The competition is open to any Arizona resident. Up to one prize will be awarded to a qualified entry outside Coconino County.  There is a special prize for the best youth entry!

The Mask Up Responsibly Art Contest will run for four weeks from Tuesday, July 14, 2020 to Sunday, August 9, 2020. Entries posted on social media should use the hashtags #PleaseSPDMResponsibly, #MaskUpResponsiblyArtContest and #CreativeFlagstaff and should tag The Flagstaff Arts Council in their post. To be eligible for the contest, entries must also be submitted through the Flagstaff Arts Council’s website. Collaboration is encouraged only if it is done in a safe way. If collaborators are not in the same household it must be obvious that they created the entry in a physically distant way.

1st place prizes will be $500, with 2nd and 3rd places receiving $250 and $100 respectively.  Youth 18 years of age and younger are eligible for a special Youth category with its own prize of $50.
