To help potential grant applicants begin to formulate project ideas during the accelerated grant application timeline, Flagstaff Arts Council staff are available to answer questions and an information session is scheduled for August 31, 2020 at 5:30pm.

The grant portal and guidelines are expected to be available at here on or before August 31, 2020. Initial applications will use a simplified Letter of Interest process helping applicants begin a dialogue with the grant review committee about their proposed project. Letters of Interest are tentatively due in one month by Sunday, September 20.

About the Recovery Collaboration Grant Program

The Recovery Collaboration Grant program provides flexible funds to support a project that addresses common needs or opportunities presented by the Coronavirus pandemic and economic recession.

Different than prior Art & Science fund project grant opportunities, proposed projects must include at least one project partner and the project must enhance the work or opportunity of multiple nonprofits or stakeholders.

Example project focus areas. This is not an exhaustive list:

• Arts Workforce (e.g. solutions that increase employment or training opportunities)
• Technology (e.g. connecting COVID isolated individuals to cultural programming)
• Equipment (e.g. supporting physical distancing)
• Marketplace (e.g. provide new opportunities for artists to sell or marketplaces such as retailers to adapt)
• Economic uncertainty (e.g. accessibility of regular programming by marginalized groups due to recession)

Successful projects can include artmaking as well as practical capacity-building initiatives.

Projects must result in or support:

• production, presentation, teaching, or otherwise serve the arts.
• cultural equity, preservation, or awareness.
• production, presentation, or teaching of science programming to the public.

Projects may be awarded up to $10,000. No cash match is required. A total of $40,000 is available for this opportunity. No more than 8 grants will be awarded, likely fewer.

All projects will receive some level of technical support from the Flagstaff Arts Council in addition to the cash award. All applicants eligible for our regular project grant programs will be eligible for this grant program. Flagstaff Arts Council will provide guidance to groups unaffiliated with a nonprofit partner on how to meet the nonprofit eligibility requirements.

Initial letters of intent will be accepted via a form on our grant application portal. Letters will outline the project idea, how it supports the recovery or long-term opportunity for the sector, why the applicant is interested in pursuing the project, who potential collaborators are, and estimated cost.
