Last-minute cancellations and closures for some could impact their ability to make payroll, pay artists, or satisfy obligations associated with producing events. Nonprofits that are faced with closures are working with their production partners to minimize their losses, but lost revenue and unmitigated expenses could impact their ability to quickly rebound when the health crisis passes.

To support our non-profit partners through this time, we are tapping into unallocated Art & Science funds and requesting that the public make a meaningful contribution to the emergency grant program or directly to the non-profit of their choice.

The Flagstaff Arts Council Art & Science Grant Fund Committee is actively establishing criteria and a process to distribute the funds over the coming couple of weeks. Our initial intent is for grants to be modest in size ($250 to $1,000) and to support vulnerable non-profits affected by cancellations or declining revenues.

Flagstaff Arts Council is the largest grantor to art, science, and culture non-profits in Flagstaff. Last year, we awarded $360,000 to 54 organizations and projects. Grant funds are primarily supported by BBB tax revenues and the City of Flagstaff.

If you are an art, science, and culture non-profit that is impacted by a closure or acute revenue loss associated with COVID-19 that an emergency grant would help avert immediate fiscal crisis, please contact Executive Director Jonathan Stone (jstone@creativeflagstaff.org) while grant eligibility criteria is still being formed.
