Viola Nominations & Panelist Applications are OPEN

Nominations & Panelist Applications for the 14th Annual Viola Awards are now open

Creative Flagstaff is excited to announce that both nominations and panelist applications are now open for the 14th Annual Viola Awards set for Saturday, April 30, 2022. With the recent passing of Jim Babbitt of the Babbitt Brothers Foundation, the Viola Awards Founding Sponsor, Creative Flagstaff is committed to honoring his legacy by continuing to honor excellence in art, science, and culture in Flagstaff.

This year brings changes to both the award categories and the panelist selection process. Both of these changes were made as a result of the October 20th Viola Awards Community Meeting hosted at the Coconino Center for the Arts, and subsequent surveys and conversations with stakeholders.

Updated Award Categories

The award categories have shifted slightly, with the introduction of the Excellence in Collaboration Award and the Philanthropy Award. Most notably, panelists may select more than one winner in categories with subdisciplines. For example, the Performing Arts award may be split into Excellence in Theater and Excellence in Dance at the discretion of the panel. A full list of award categories, descriptions, and criteria can be found here. For more information & to submit a nomination, click here.

Apply to be a Panelist

Panels of community members will be appointed by a selection committee. Panelists review each nomination and determine the finalists and winners for that award category. Prospective panelists should apply to serve on a specific award category panel, be well informed and/or involved in the community category represents and be free of conflict of interest from nominees within that category. We invite past finalists, winners, enthusiast, engaged community members and stakeholders to apply. Panelists will be selected in early January. For more information & to apply, click here.
