Creative Flagstaff is thrilled to share that the Innovation & Capacity grant program is now open and accepting applications.

Applications will remain open until September 30, 2022. Innovation and Capacity (project) Grants provide flexible funds to support a specific project designed to introduce a new program or experience, prove a concept, or build operational capacity in the art, science, and cultural sectors in greater Flagstaff. The funding period for these grants is January 1 – December 31, 2023. Creative Flagstaff expects to award between $50,000 and $80,000 through these grants.

Innovation and Capacity Grants are funded through City of Flagstaff’s BBB Art & Science fund. For this year’s cycle, some projects may be awarded through a separate ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funding opportunity. Projects identified for potential awards through ARPA funds will be contacted by staff to provide a short addendum application.

Project applications funded through the City of Flagstaff BBB tax revenues must be based in the greater Flagstaff area as defined by the Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization. Subsidiaries are eligible if their parent organization is based in Arizona, are incorporated with the IRS as a nonprofit 501(c)3 or (c)6 organization or have a formal agreement with a nonprofit fiscal sponsor, or are a post-secondary education institution. Capacity building project grants are restricted to organizations that have a primary mission dedicated to produce, present, teach or serve the arts, cultural equity, preservation, or awareness, or produce, present, or teach science programming to the public.

A Virtual Information Session will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 5:30 pm. This session will be recorded for anyone unable to attend at that time. Applications close on Friday, September 30, 2022. Awards will be announced on Monday, December 12, 2022. Zoom link here.
