Youth Lens 2020

Nature Exposed Photography is pleased to present Youth Lens: High School Photography Contest for 2020.

We are seeking quality photographs from student photographers enrolled in high schools in the Coconino County area for this program. The deadline to submit is March 16th, 2020.

Coconino County-area high school students are encouraged to submit their photographic work to be juried by Tony Freeman of Nature Exposed Photography, Tom Alexander of Tom Alexander Photography and Matt Beaty of The Framing Department at Hidden Light.

Any subject matter is accepted and permitted, as long as it is suitable for all ages.

All accepted photography will be printed by Hidden Light (approx. 8”x10”) for display and displayed in Nature Exposed (Freeman Law) offices at 19 W. Birch Avenue, Flagstaff, Arizona.

The opening reception will be held during First Friday Art Walk on May 1st, 2020 from 6:00-9:00pm, and the exhibition will remain open through July 3rd, 2020. Youth Lens will be featured in the First Friday Art Walk map for May, June and July 2020.

Winners will be announced at the June 5th, 2020 Art Walk. People’s Choice winner will be announced at the July 3rd, 2020 Art Walk.

Prints that are for sale and sold, will be given to the purchaser at the end of the exhibit. Unsold prints or those not for sale, will be returned to the photographer. All photography displayed in the exhibition will be entered for consideration of three individual prizes:

                                  
  • First Place: $100 and metal print
  • Second Place: $50
  • Third Place: $25
  • All photos selected for the exhibition will receive a $10 gift card to a local restaurant or movie theater.

About Tony Freeman

Tony Freeman founded Nature Exposed Photography. His incredible encounters with wildlife and the beautiful scenery in Western Canada and Alaska has resulted in a passion for capturing unique glimpses of nature all over the globe. From the beaches in Mexico, to the wildflowers in the desert, the geography of Southern Utah, the bears in Alaska and the lions in Tanzania, nature is exposed.

Guidelines for Submission

All photography must be original work done by an individual who is enrolled in 9th-12th grades at the time of submission. Photography must be submitted with title, at 300 dpi resolution, and with a price if for sale (or NFS if not for sale). Photographs should be taken within an aspect ratio suitable for an 8”x10” print. All artwork sales go directly to the photographer. Content matter that is deemed unsuitable for an all-ages crowd will not be considered. ONE image entry per student.

The deadline to submit is March 16th, 2020. Artists will be notified of the status of their entry by April 10th, 2020.

Exhibited artwork should be picked up by students at Freeman Law offices at the conclusion of the exhibition. Any photographs not retrieved by students within the timeline set by Freeman Law will be returned to the student’s teachers.
